IOC condoned Chinese Internet Censorship

Outrage followed reports this week that Chinese authorities had reneged on their pre-olympic promises of 'total media freedom.'

But by Wednesday of this week, when international reporters revealed that access was still being denied to 'thorn-in-the-side-of-the-Chinese-authorities' websites such as Amnesty (who earlier released a carefully-timed damning report of the Chinese' failure to live up to their human rights promises), Falun Gong and others, the International Olympic Comittee (IOC) admitted that some of it's own officials had knowingly negotiated this situation with the Chinese authorities.

The IOC now joins the ranks of illustrious international bodies (such as the UN) who appear so full of potential for good but, in an effort to keep everyone smiling for the cameras, actually manage to look weak and ineffectual and, ultimately, disappointing to everyone who cares about such things.
